Pork & cabbage soup

I made this on Women’s International Day so I have the Suffragette centenary stamps in the background to celebrate the hard work and commemorate the movement for women’s rights.

This recipe is for delicious pork and cabbage soup it’s a simple quick one pot meal that is best left all day for tender pork that breaks up and melts in the mouth.

This is a no-fail recipe simply throw everything into the pot set for four to six hours and let the magic happen.

You can add or take away whatever you like from this some people like to add garlic but I like a more traditional taste so I have added one small carrot into this. In such a small quantity this won’t affect your macros too much as there is 6grams in one medium carrot so it’s roughly 4 grams added to the entire dish. Just be sure to chop it small. I like to add this for the flavour you could always leave it out as it’s a personal choice.


  • 2 Large onion
  • 1 Medium savoy cabbage
  • 1 small carrot
  • 3tbl Vegetable stock
  • 2 Oxo cubes
  • Salt pink if possible ( a few pinches)
  • Pepper ( a few pinches)
  • 2 Litres of hot water


  1. chop onions, cabbage, carrot and meat
  2. Place all ingredients in a slow cooker or pan.
  3.  Add salt, pepper, Oxo cubes and stock
  4. Add the hot water and stir.
  5. Let cook for 4-6 hours
  6. Serve and enjoy it’s that simple!
